They will be offered by Moncton colleges and institutions
The opening of a new casino in Moncton will mean the creation of 400 full-time equivalent jobs, including roulette and blackjack croupiers, IT professionals and food and beverage servers. This represents an opportunity local training facilities to offer their services to potential candidates.
The resort in Moncton will include a 128-room hotel plus a convention center and restaurants. The casino will offer a wide variety of table games, such as blackjack, poker and roulette, and hundreds of slot machines. Also, it is expected to feature shows with renowned artists every week.
John Thompson, CEO of Enterprise Greater Moncton, believes several organizations could be interested in offering training courses for those who want to make a career as dealers. Up until now, NBCC Moncton and Oulton College have already started organizing said courses in order to be ready before the casino opens.
“We were approached a couple of years ago by another company when the idea of a casino first started to gather steam,” Oulton College President Charles Savoie said. “We don’t expect anything to move ahead until the service provider agreement is signed, but when it is, Oulton College will be ready.”
