MIT Blackjack movie to be released
It is based on the book Bringing Down the House
The legendary Blackjack Team, a group of students of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) who learned how to cheat in blackjack, will now have their own movie. Based on the book Bringing Down the House by Ben Mezrich, the film named “21” will tell the story of the youngsters who used maths to defeat the casino.

It all started in 1979, when a group of MIT students that played poker regularly took a course called How To Gamble If You Must. There, they learned about the game of blackjack and card counting techniques and after the course finished they decided to try their skills.

After several attempts and failures, a group of four players created a team and collected $5,000 to try their luck once again. For some weeks, the team was successful at selected blackjack tables and allegedly won one million dollars. However, this triumph could not be repeated and the group finally split.

According to the executives of Columbia Pictures, the company that produced the film, “21” will be released in late March and it will star Kevin Spacey, Laurence Fishburne and Kate Bosworth, among others.
